President’s message

TRS Boston was born from lived experience and a deep commitment to community.

We believe healing is possible when people have the right support, tools, and people walking beside them. I started this work because I saw — and lived — the challenges so many face after trauma, incarceration, or personal crisis. TRS is here to say: you’re not alone. We rise by lifting each other.

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision.
Our Story

In 2012, TRS Boston (Transitional Remedies Solutions Inc.) …

was founded in response to a surge in violence across the city — especially in Dorchester, Mattapan, and Roxbury. Wilbur Brown, a BU graduate in social work and psychology, began offering psychological first aid to grieving families and survivors of trauma. But as the need grew, it became clear that long-term, structured support was missing. Wilbur’s own journey — as a returning citizen navigating stigma, trauma, and rebuilding his life — revealed the power of networks, accountability, and community healing. TRS Boston became the solution: a nonprofit committed to walking with people as they transition back into life with hope, dignity, and support.
