Founder’s message

TRS Boston was born from lived experience and a deep commitment to community.

We believe healing is possible when people have the right support, tools, and people walking beside them. I started this work because I saw and lived the challenges so many face after trauma, incarceration, or personal crisis. TRS is here to say: you’re not alone. We rise by lifting each other.

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision.
Our Story

In 2012, TRS Boston (Transitional Remedies Solutions Inc.) …

was founded in response to a surge in violence across the city, especially in Dorchester, Mattapan, and Roxbury. Wilbur Brown, a BU graduate in social work and psychology, began offering psychological first aid to grieving families and survivors of trauma. But as the need grew, it became clear that long-term, structured support was missing. Wilbur’s own journey; as a returning citizen navigating stigma, trauma, and rebuilding his life; revealed the power of networks, accountability, and community healing. TRS Boston became the solution: a nonprofit committed to walking with people as they transition back into life with hope, dignity, and support.

Mission & Vision

At Transitional Remedies Solutions (TRS), we are dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate life after trauma. Through community-based, non-clinical support, we help adults rebuild emotional stability, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with their lives.

We serve individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including veterans, survivors of violence, and those transitioning from correctional facilities, many of whom face barriers to accessing consistent support.

Our goal is to provide safe spaces, meaningful connection, and access to resources that foster resilience, personal growth, and a path forward. We envision a community where every individual has the opportunity to heal, regain stability, and build a stronger future.
